SOCiAL NETWORK is custom designed for Public: PLATFORM event in April 2016. It is an interactive 3D pipe maze puzzle where visitors have to figure out which pipe openings they are speaking through. We installed the artwork outside the heritage-listed Australia Post building to contrast between the traditional and the contemporary means of communication.
Children and adults alike find the installation engaging and entertaining, especially as the pipes are randomly coloured and interweaved. People also start engaging conversations to others they never meet before, emulating the concept of contemporary social media. Three FM radios are installed inside some of the pipes for audio outputs. Audio can only be heard when the audience interacts with the correct pipes.
